Wooded Estate Transformation
Selective trimming and canopy management brought this wooded property from overgrown to elegant — opening sightlines while preserving shade and privacy.
Dense, overgrown canopy blocking the home and driveway. Low-hanging limbs and tangled crowns.
Clean sightlines, raised canopy, and the home's full facade visible from the street.
Clean sightlines, raised canopy, and the home's full facade visible from the street.
Wide-angle view showing the full property — trimmed pines, open lawn, curb appeal restored.
Cul-de-Sac Curb Appeal
Crown shaping, deadwood removal, and fresh mulch rings turned these front yard trees into a showcase — boosting curb appeal and property value.
Uneven crowns, crossing branches, and bare mulch beds. The trees hid the home behind them.
Symmetrical crowns, clean structure, and fresh mulch rings. The home is the centerpiece again.
Suburban Front Yard Cleanup
Two overgrown trees were hiding this home from the street. Crown thinning and shaping opened up the facade and let the landscaping shine.
Tangled crowns growing into each other, blocking the front of the house and garage.
Thinned and shaped canopies with clean separation. The full house and landscaping are visible again.
Brick Estate Canopy Lift
Heavy, low-hanging canopies were swallowing this brick home. Crown lifting and selective thinning opened up the facade and restored the streetside presence.
Dense, drooping canopies obscuring the roofline, windows, and front entry. Trees blending into one mass.
Lifted and thinned canopies with clean trunk lines. The full brick facade, arched entry, and roofline are visible from the street.

Facebook Houston Tree Care, Answered
Plain-talk answers to the questions Houston homeowners ask us most often. Don't see yours? Send it over.
What areas of Houston does Tree's 101 serve?
We serve the Greater Houston area, including Houston, The Woodlands, Sugar Land, Katy, Cypress, Spring, Pearland, and Bellaire — plus surrounding communities like Magnolia, Tomball, and Conroe. If you're not sure whether your address is in our service area, give us a call at (832) 423-6445 and we'll let you know.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Tree's 101 is a licensed and insured tree service and landscape design company. Every job is owner-supervised, and we carry the coverage needed to work around homes, fences, power lines, and finished landscaping safely.
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes — every estimate is free and on-site, with no obligation. Our owner personally walks the property to assess the work, talk through your options, and give you a clear quote. Request your free estimate or call (832) 423-6445.
Do you handle emergency tree removal after a storm?
Yes. Fallen trees, broken branches, and trees leaning on a home are emergencies — we respond fast for storm damage cleanup across Greater Houston. Call (832) 423-6445 as soon as it's safe and we'll move you up the schedule. For tips on prepping your trees before hurricane season, read our Houston hurricane tree prep guide.
How do I know if a tree on my property is dangerous?
Common warning signs include heavy one-sided canopy leaning toward a structure, large dead limbs ("widow-makers") still attached up high, cracks or splits at branch unions, mushroom or fungal growth at the base, fresh lean after a storm, and exposed or rotting roots. The trickiest ones still look mostly alive but are quietly compromised. We cover this in detail in our dangerous tree guide — and we'll come out for a free on-site assessment if you're unsure.
What's the difference between stump grinding and full stump removal?
Stump grinding uses a grinder to chip the stump down several inches below grade — fast, clean, and lets you re-sod or replant over the spot. The root system stays in the ground and breaks down naturally over time. Full stump removal physically extracts the stump and the major root ball, which leaves a larger hole that needs backfilling but is sometimes necessary if you're putting a structure, hardscape, or tree in the same spot. We offer both — pick the one that fits the plan for that piece of yard.
Will you clean up after the work is done?
Yes — full clean-up is included on every job. We haul off the wood and debris, rake the ground, and leave the property neater than we found it. You shouldn't have to deal with a mess after we leave.
When is the best time of year to trim or prune trees in Houston?
For most Houston hardwoods (live oak, post oak, pecan, red oak), late winter through very early spring is ideal — the tree is dormant, structure is visible without leaves, and disease pressure is lower. Live oaks especially benefit from being pruned outside the active oak-wilt transmission window (roughly February through June). That said, dead, broken, or dangerous limbs can be removed any time of year, and we recommend pre-storm trimming before hurricane season starts on June 1.
Does Tree's 101 do landscape design too?
Yes — landscape design and installation are part of what we do. We combine greenery, hedges, entry plantings, and the larger tree work to transform a yard into a backyard oasis. Many of our clients start with a tree project and then ask us to handle the surrounding landscape too. See the gallery for examples.
How much does tree removal cost in Houston?
Cost depends on the size of the tree, how close it is to the house or power lines, whether the crew can drive equipment up to it, the condition of the wood, and whether stump grinding is included. Because each job is different, we don't quote sight-unseen — the on-site estimate is free, and you'll get a clear written number before any work starts.
How fast can you come out?
For free estimates we typically respond within 24 hours. For active emergencies — a tree on a house, a tree blocking a driveway, a leaning tree after a storm — we move you up the schedule and respond as fast as the day allows. Same-day service is often possible during normal business hours.
